Do you have wifi?
We do! Please ask on arrival for the password for our free guest wifi.
Do you provide food for the event? Can I bring my own food and refreshments?
You are allowed to bring your own food and drink. However, you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself. This applies to all rooms except for the Dance Studio where there is no food or drink allowed.
Do you have music or any entertainment available? Can I hire my own?
We do not provide any music or entertainment
Do you have tables and chairs? Can I bring my own?
Yes, we have tables and chairs available. We have approximately fifty chairs or so available at the library and forty in the playroom. Other rooms may have around 6-10 chairs except for the Studio which has no seating.
How long can I rent out the space for?
The minimum time you can rent a space is for one hour and parties can be booked in 3, 4 or 5-hour blocks.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel up to one calendar month in advance to receive a full refund. We do not take cancellations 7 days or less before the event. This is because we often need to book hosts in advance and can’t always find alternative room hirers. We process refunds manually so they will take up to 5 business days to be credited back to your account.
How big is the room – what is the room capacity?
The Belsize Community Library has a capacity to fit 50 people comfortably, and the Play Room has a capacity to fit 40 people. The Studio and The Basement have a capacity of about 25 people, and the other rooms about 10-15 people.
Can I arrive early to set up or leave later to take down the party/event?
No, you can only arrive and leave during the time that you have rented the room. Please make sure the time that you book allows for set up and packing away.
Do I have to clean up?
Yes, you should leave the rooms in the condition that you found them in when you arrived.
How do I pay for the room?
Online via our booking system. If you have any issues with this please do not hesitate to call us or email Roomhire@thewinch.org.
Will there be someone to open and close the library?
Yes, the library will be open for your event. The name and number of that host will be given to you as your event approaches. At 21 Winchester Road, we will have staff to greet you.
Can I bring alcohol?
Yes, you are able to bring alcohol for consumption by adults only. The hirer is responsible for managing the safety of all guests and ensuring that only those over 18 consume the alcohol. It must be taken off-site after your event. We encourage responsible drinking.
Can we move the furniture around?
Yes, you can move the furniture around, as long as it is moved back to its original position by the end of your party.
