Why we collect your personal data and informed consent

We take seriously the protection of your privacy and confidentiality and we understand that you are entitled to know that your personal data will not be used for any unintended purpose and will not accidentally fall into the hands of a third party.

We undertake to preserve the confidentiality of all information you provide to us.

Our policy complies with UK law accordingly implemented, including that required by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  The Winch is committed to ensuring any personal data will be dealt with in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The Winch collects and stores your personal information for three reasons:

  • To stay in contact with you about our services and other opportunities
  • To process your current and future room booking requests
  • To process any donations or other offers of support.

The Winch will not share identifiable personal details about you without your permission unless you tell us it is OK or if we are required to do so by law. We value the trusting relationships we build with our supporters.

To help keep your information safe the Winch stores personal data on a secure database or in locked cabinets. We only keep the information for as long as we need it in line with our Data Protection Policy and as long as we are required to within the law and we will dispose of it safely after this time.

You also have a right to access the information we hold about you and to choose how your information is used.  If the information we hold isn’t accurate, you can ask us to correct it.

We may also collect information regarding your visit to the website. This may include where you are geographically, how you were referred to us (e.g. search engines or email marketing), your browser and device type, the pages you viewed and duration of your visit and any search terms used.

We use Google Analytics to collect information about how visitors use the website. We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the site.
