Camden Council CEO visits the Winch to see community-led work in action

Jon Rowney, Chief Executive of Camden Council, visited us to meet local children, young people and residents, and to see first-hand how the charity supports neighbourhoods across north Camden.

The visit marked Jon Rowney’s first visit to the Winch since taking up the role of Camden CEO in July 2025. During his hour at the centre, he toured the building, met staff and volunteers, and spent time with members of the Winch Children’s Council, youth groups and community teams.

During the visit, Jon Rowney met members of the Winch Children’s Council, who spoke about their role in shaping activities and spaces at the centre, and young people involved in youth programmes that focus on wellbeing, skills and local opportunities. He also heard from staff about the challenges facing families and young people, including the cost of living, mental health pressures and the importance of community connection.

The visit comes as the Winch continues discussions with Camden Council about future investment in its building and in preventative, community-based services. The charity currently employs over 40 people and secures more than £1 million of investment into Camden neighbourhoods each year, generating significant additional social value for the borough.
