Belsize Public Assembly – Places That Matter: The Library & The Launderette

5 March @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Our next Belsize Public Assembly will be all about the library! Three amazing authors: Eva HoffmanBenita Matofska and David Winner are going to share their very personal library stories and celebrate with us World Book Day and Jewish Book Week.

Eva Hoffmann will speak about Jewish Culture and its shared values. Benita Matofska, founder of the Sharing Economy, is going to tell us all about her book “Generation Share” and how libraries, and everyone else, can benefit from the Sharing Economy. West End Lane Books are bringing few copies for signing. David Winner will then talk about his career as writer and journalist and why Libraries are just about his favourite kind of places.

And let’s not forget that on the same week week falls International Women’s Day; and the incredible Celia King, England’s Lane Launderette Manager, will tell the story of  how she saved the facility from becoming a Smoothie Place. A rare case of Social Enterprise winning over Gentrification.

We’ll start with he amazing Caroline Chan who has composed a special song for our library which she will play right before the discussion.

And least but not last, from 6.30pm, there is going to be food! Delicious Persian dishes freshly prepared by Sima. All vegetarian.
