The Winch plays a prominent role in the local community, both independently and in partnership with other organisations.
We provide information and support to local people, often signposting or facilitating meetings to answer questions and make things happen. We also provide low-cost space for community groups and clubs, and often work together to initiate or establish projects.
We chair the local neighbourhood partnership (Swiss Cottage Area Partnership) as well as actively participating in Swiss Cottage Festival Association, Kilburn Youth Providers Group and a number of borough-wide networks.
We see children and young people’s contributions as being at the
heart of a healthy community, and believe that our work is most effective in the context of and cooperation with, the wider community. One example of this is Ace United, a community initiative established by local parents, which has developed through our support for Reece Okezie, a local young person.
