Our Sites

We are based across two main sites – 21 Winchester Road and Belsize Community Library.

In addition to our sites we deliver services to children and young people wherever there is a need for us. These settings include schools, tenants and residents halls, sports venues and on the streets and in public spaces.

photo 121 Winchester Road is our first home and the site of many of our activities as well as our office team.

A pub until 1969, the Old Winchester Arms was squatted in the early 1970s by a group of young people looking to rehouse their youth club. After wrangling with the local authority, they were given leave to remain – provided they fixed the place up – until 1974, when plans for a new civic centre in Swiss Cottage were expected to materialise. They never did, and the Winch is still here today.

Activities which take place at 21 Winchester Road include:

  • After School Clubs
  • Holiday Play Schemes
  • Activities for young people including cooking, music and gym sessions
  • The Company, our business start-up programme for young adults

Belsize_Library,_Antrim_Road,_NW3_-_geograph.org.uk_-_626051Belsize Community Library is a beautiful space which has been an important community asset since it was built in 1937. In 2012, the library ceased to be part of the Camden Library Network and transferred into the management of The Winch.

Since then we have been developing a programme of activities focused on 0-5 year olds, whilst also exploring approaches to ensure its ongoing financial sustainability.
